The Industrial Revolution was a period of major industrialization where key events like the invention of the steam engine, the rise of factories and railway networks. There were also urbanization, the rise of middle class and major shifts in labor.  

Dresses during this period reflected both practicality for working classes and social status of middle and upper class.
